About The Nordic American

The Nordic American connects the Nordic community across the Americas — primarily the United States and Canada.

There are more than 12 million people of Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, and Icelandic heritage scattered across North America. They gather at Midsummer festivals, Syttende Mai celebrations, and lutefisk dinners. They keep language alive in church basements and cultural centers. They run businesses that import Nordic design, food, and craft.

But these communities are scattered. There's no single place to find them all.

That's what we're building. A directory of Nordic organizations, businesses, and events. A newsletter that tells you what's happening in your region. Stories about the people keeping Nordic heritage alive.

We start in Minnesota — the heart of Nordic America — and expand from there.
