Syttende Mai Festival

Stoughton's Syttende Mai Festival is America's largest celebration of Norwegian Constitution Day, held annually on the weekend closest to May 17. This three-day city-wide festival in Historic Downtown Stoughton features Norwegian parades starting at Mandt Park, traditional folk dancing by the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers, rosemaling and Hardanger embroidery exhibits, quilt shows, woodcarving, a Norse costume style show, a smorgasbord of Norwegian foods, live music, an arts and crafts fair, a 3.5-mile Yahara River canoe race, and the Ugliest Troll Drawing contest. Organized by the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce since 1953.
